Hmm Lets see. By day I work as a department administrator after departing from exams administration (which is not as much fun as it sounds), but at night I am much more dynamic.... well sort of if you like the stuff I do..:D
I'm old enough to have remembered the death of John Lennon, if I had been interested in the event.. I saw the "rule" of Maggie Thatcher and have to live in what she has wrought..
I am an undisclosed Dyslexic, this doesn't mean that I kept it stealthily hidden, more that I was diagnosed as an adult. So my spelling is erratic and my sentence structure can be a bit wonky. I try my best, I do proof read when I can, but if I am in a hurry or just having a bad day I can't see the problem and it just doesn't work:(
I also have a long term medical condition called "Hypermobility Syndrome" which means I have lax tissues, (which does not mean my Kleenex falls apart) it means that I am prone to spraining things. I also suffer from pain and fatigue, which has slowed me down but will not stop me enjoying that things I enjoy!
I am an avid reader and collector of books, fact and fiction.. an interest I fell into accidentally when I was 7. I have since amassed a small library's worth of books on various subjects and genres. Unsurprisingly I am a devoted watcher of TV & Film and I collect the dvd's of any that I like (I have discovered that 10 years of collecting dvds fills a 7ft Billy book case (with the extra shelves), double deep - you did not want to see what the video collection used to look like before I converted it to dvd:/. I am a little bit crackers about many things.. I tend to range between one enthuse and another, I particularly like to watch Who-dunits/Procedural shows the way most people watch soap operas, mostly because I like to put the puzzles together. But I have to admit my first and main literary and tv passion is sci-fi. Watching Blakes 7 and Dr Who as a child had a profound effect on me:D as did the occasional episode of original Star Trek and the various esoteric random sci-fi of the 80's was rather watchable too. I also like some fantasy stuff, and I love comedy but I am very picky about what I find "funny".
I like to get out and about and meet people. Being mostly shy as a child I have been trying to "bring myself out a bit" by doing social stuff which makes me mingle with people. I Live Action Role Play (LARP), I Historical re-enact (mostly iron-age but I have dabbled in other eras). I have a penchant for trying out different crafts, I can bead, tablet weave, basic weave, basic knit, sew, embroider, sculpt, paint, draw/sketch. I am very good at innovating costume and I am one of the few people it seems to loves to put together flat pack furniture, I think I like the whole put these flat 2D things together and create something 3D. Ikea is my friend:D. If its a tactile skill I will have a go at doing it.
In addition to all of that I aspire to be able to bake the perfectly delectable cake (lemon cake is my specialty but I cannot for the life of me cook an edible carrot cake..) I collect prodigious amounts of "stuff" (I think I may have been a magpie in a previous life). My excuse reasoning behind the need for my epic collection-o-stuff is that it acts as a tactile memory pointer for things worth remembering. Also I am a firm believer in the fact that if I throw it away I will need it shortly afterwards.
I feel that I am infact prepared for the possibility of a future apocalypse or zombie/infected &/or possible Alien invasion. And on the facilitation of a breakdown of society and nations I would be quite happy to hole up and survive the inevitable primitive age.
I also seem to be a mental sponge for odd and pointless facts which will never be of any use to anyone outside sci-fi circles and the odd pub quiz..
